US Navy contract for the world's most rugged encoder
Zettlex has won a major contract to supply sensors to the US Navy.
The sensors will form part of next generation automated flight deck systems on Aircraft Carriers in the US Fleet.
The sensors are required to withstand shock (to 1,000 G), high temperatures (to 300C), and intense electromagnetic fields (to 200V/m).
Michael White, Senior Programme Manager in the US, says: "We pretty much scoured the globe for an ultra rugged encoder technology. To be honest, there's not many that would even bid because of the very harsh operating conditions. Our conclusion at the end of the exercise .....Zettlex is the best out there."
