High volume customers can now purchase Zettlex ASICs in die form
Zettlex announces the general release of single channel ASICs in die form. The units are aimed at very high volume sensor applications in consumer electronics, domestic appliances and volume industrial. Outline specification is:
- 10 bit resolution
- 5V +/- 10% power supply
- Dual I2C & PWM outputs
- Reverse polarity protection
- -45 to 125C temperature rating
- Measurement frequency of 1kHz.
Other than 3 or 4 passives, no other components are required, offering customers a 'single chip' solution.

The main advantages compared to discrete electronic solutions are reduced costs, reduced footprint and greater relaibility from reduced part count. Laminar targets and antennae can be used and do not require costly, delicate or bulky ferrite components.
The general release follows trials during 2007/8 by a major US white goods manufacturer who will be launching their new products with 'Zettlex inside' during Q4 2008 in US and Q1 2009 in Europe.
