Company Press Zettlex approved to make safety critical sensors

24 November 2009

Zettlex have been awarded BS EN 13980 accreditation by the British Standards Institute for the manufacture of ATEX devices for explosive environments.

Sensors for operation in potentially explosive environments are called ATEX sensors.  They are mandatory in those environments where there is a significant risk of explosion.

Oil rigs, petrochemical plants and mines are obvious examples of potentially explosive environments but less well known is that wood mills, flour mills and pharmaceutical plants also need ATEX sensors.

Zettlex sensors are ideally suited to ATEX-environments because:-

  • they are low power (true 2 wire 4..20mA is readily acheived)
  • there are no electrical contacts
  • all electronics can be sealed or encapulsulated.

Zettlex's recent BS EN 13980 accreditation signifies that Zettlex's design, manufacturing, quality assurance and control meet the very high standards necessary for ATEX devices.
